2013 Genomics Workshop in Czech Republic
META center member Cresko and members of his lab taught in the 2013 Workshop on Genomics in beautiful Cesky Krumlov, and will do so again in January 2014. This UNESCO world heritage site sits in the middle of the triangle formed by Prague, Munich and Vienna. This intensive two week course covers nearly all aspects of modern genomics analysis, such as genome and transcriptome assembly, variant calling and differential expression, RAD-seq and genetic mapping, and metagenomics.
Participants are also immersed in UNIX and Python scripting, and learn from other faculty from universities and sequencing centers (Sanger Centre, Broad, Washington University) across Europe and North America. The course is stimulating for many reasons, not the least of which is that the lectures take place in the 19th century town hall, and the tutorials in a 14th century building with beautiful frescoes on the walls. Space is still available for participants in the 2014 Workshop.
